Project Night Night (http://www.projectnightnight.org/ ) 148 Beuiah St. San Francisco. This organization provides canvas totes to children from birth to pre-teen who are living in shelters. In the tote is a security blanket, an age appropriate book and a stuffed animal. This organization works with homeless shelters all over California. Clubs are encouraged to give their items to their local shelter directly.
Quilts for Kids ( http://www.quiltsforkids.org/ ) Free quilt kits are offered if the club will make and return the quilt in 6 weeks. These quilts are donated to hospitals.
Quilts of Valor Foundation ( http://www.qovf.org/ ) The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover ail those service members and veterans touched by war with a quilt. There are approximately 8 different Quilts of Valor groups in CA, The website lists the requirements for the quilts and has patterns that one can use. Clubs can make quilts, donate fabric or donate money for fabric.
Warm Up America ( http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/warmup.html ) 469 Hospital Dr. 2nd floor, Suite E, Gastonia, NC 28054. Volunteers knit or crochet 7* x 9" rectangles. They can put the rectangles together or they can also knit or crochet a complete afghan. Clubs are encouraged to send their completed items to their local Red Cross, local homeless shelter, or crisis center. The Painted Turtle Camp ( http://thepaintedturtle.org/turtle/howyoucanhelp/quilts/ ) Each child is given a lap quilt and a turtle to have as their own. Please see website for dimensions of the lap quilt.
