General Contest Rules:
Deadline for
individual club members to have their entries into the hands of San
Bernardino District Chairman, Gene Drake is December 31, 2009.
These general rules apply to all
entries. These rules are GFWC rules and GFWC will make no exceptions.
1. Entries will not be returned. Authors should
retain a copy.
2. All writers must be amateurs; earnings from
writing may not exceed $500 annually.
3. Entries may not have been published prior to
the competition and must be original works by the author.
4. Entries must be written during the contest
year.
5. Entries must be typed, DOUBLE-SPACED, printed
on ONE SIDE ONLY, with minimum margins of 1 inch on all four sides,
on 8 ½ x 11 inches paper.
6. By submitting their entry to GFWC, authors are
providing GFWC with a royalty-free perpetual license to use, reproduce,
post, display,
create derivative works, sell, license, or sub-license the
work in any media now known or later invented without limitation, for
commercial
or non-commercial purposes.
7. All Entries must have the following at the
TOP RIGHT-HAND CORNER of each page:
GFWC Short Story Contest Rules: Short
stories must not exceed 2000 words. Specify # of words on entry.
GFWC Poetry Contest Rules:
Entries of poems can be any style, with a minimum length of 8 lines and
a maximum of 50 lines. Specify # of lines on entry.
GFWC YOUTH CONTESTS: Youth may enter no more than
one short story and ONE poem for club contests at the local level.
Categories:
> Category 1: Grades 1, 2, and 3
> Category 2: Grades 4. 5. and 6
> Category 3: Grades 7, 8, and 9
> Category 4: Grades 10, 11 and 12
Youth Contest Instructions: Clubs must send ALL
entries to their DISTRICT Short Story and Poetry Contest Chairman for
initial judging and to select first place awards. District Chairman will
then send original and 3 copies of each District First Place entry to
the GFWC/CFWC Chairman for judging. Only ONE entry for each category
will be accepted from each District. Entry Deadline: It must be received
by the San Bernardino District Chairman, Gene Drake, by December 31,
2009.
