“I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know—the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” - Albert Schweitzer

2005 Ambassadors
 Long-Lasting, and Life-Changing
Enthusiastic, Motivating, Transforming,
Inspiring,   Altruistic,  Energizing,
Conference Attendees
During their HOBY experience, our Ambassadors discover and sharpen their leadership skills; they come face-to-face with current leaders in such fields as government, media, business and education; and, they are taught how to think, not what to think, empowering them to value their own opinions and ideas, and to find the courage to express those opinions among their peers. Then, HOBY challenges them to take their experience back to their home, school and community and make a difference for others. They positively sparkle with enthusiasm when speaking to us!

These are some of the words that returning  “HOBY Ambassadors” use each September when they come to our luncheon to tell club members about their experience at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) conference.

Working through our local high schools’ councilors, Rancho Cucamonga Woman’s Club grants an annual scholarship to cover the registration fee for an outstanding sophomore in each of our four high schools. The only expenses students are responsible for is transportation to and from the seminar and personal spending money for optional photos and souvenirs.

Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our youth to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.  RCWC embraces the HOBY philosophy, believing students like these represent the future leaders of the world—leaders in business, education, government, or any field they choose.  We encourage Rancho Cucamonga young people to believe, “YOU are someone who will make a difference”.
